I’m going to be gone for a month at camp. I’m training to be a counselor, and the CIT Program requires us to spend a month at camp for CIT II, training. Obviously. I won’t be updating or posting or anything. Just FYI.
UPDATE: I leave you for a month with five new icon textures I made. Be warned, they’re being hosted on photobucket for the time being, because I can’t download an FTP client on this laptop. Sorry for the inconvenience, but seeing as you shouldn’t be direct-linking to them at all, it shouldn’t be a problem.
So I finally found some time to work on some new layouts. They’re simple, CSS layouts, but they do look nice. I haven’t gotten around to making anything dealing with pictures lately though. I haven’t really had much time or access to my old laptop, seeing as my mom is either always on it, or asking me what’s wrong with the one I’m on now. I’m hoping to get some icons, banners, etc. made on Wednesday, seeing as my mom should be going to visit my dad and brother at the camp they’re at… four and a half hours away. It’ll give me plenty of time to work without being disturbed. Until then, I’ll keep working on some more CSS layouts.
Speaking of the guys being away, me and my mom are going to go see My Sister’s Keeper today, and Public Enemies later this week. I’m really excited, I’ve wanted to see both of them for a while.
To forewarn everyone, I will be gone all July. I’m going to my camp for a month for CIT2 (counselor-in-training II). By the end of the month, I’ll be a JC (junior counselor) and get paid for the weekends! And when I get back from camp, I will have officially had my permit for a year, and I can get my license! My mom’s been making me drive every where this week, seeing as I will have hardly any practice for a month (we come home twice I think, to do laundry and stuff. I’m there for two weeks, then four days, then a week). But I’m excited anyway!
So, I finally got around to making some new stuff. I made some decent brushes, most of them are handmade! The scans are from magazines, but to warn you, I need to save them as .png instead of .jpg. so they’re really bad quality right now. I apologize, I didn’t realize until I’d uploladed them. I also have some new textures, but they don’t seem to be showing up, so I’m still figuring that out. I’ve got access to my dad’s laptop now, which is nice for a change. You would think I’d have more time to get stuff done, but unfortunately, I think I have less. It’s my dad’s work computer, so I can’t download GIMP, or upload anything, and then when I do get on my computer, my mother asks me where dad’s is. Irritating.
I realize I don’t blog enough. So, because I don’t blog here when I don’t have any updates, I made a blog on blogger.com. It’s the YHR blog for when I don’t have any site updates. The blog link is in the navigation bar.
I finally got the chance to work on some new graphics… even if I only managed to finish five. I was working on a poster for my AP European History class, so I was on GIMP anyway, and I worked on the graphics while I was making the posters. Speaking of AP Euro, I officially hate that class. I’m so ecstatic that I only have 14 school days left, and then I’ll be rid of the awful, awful class. (Euro isn’t bad… my teacher gives really fun lectures. His tests are hard as sh*t, though). The teacher I have gives his class two major projects at the end of the year. Nations, and the video project. Neither are much fun, but I can deal, mostly, with the video project. Nations, on the other hand, is a death project. You pick which country you want to belong to, out of a list of seven. And then you spend a week backstabbing people, negotiating, trading, stealing land, solving “mysteries”, and posting propaganda all over his room. (Nations has destroyed friendships… and a five year relationship. As you can imagine, tensions get high).
It’s supposed to show you about politics, but mainly it’s gotten half of my class to hate the other half. I mean, we had people doctoring photos and video footage, blaming people who aren’t even in the class, bringing in ex-girlfriends as “character witnesses”, and bringing some guy in, in handcuffs, to testify that the slaves (or as that particular country calls them, slavés), actually like manual labor in manacles. The whole thing is absurd, and most of us are pretty frustrated with it by now.
My computer is so slow. I’ve spent the last two hours uninstalling expired/pointless things from my hard drive, and it had better help. I spend like, half and hour just waiting for GIMP to load, and five minutes waiting for my computer to do anything every time I open it. Hopefully I’ll get a job soon, so I can start saving for a new laptop. This one has to be connected to a monitor, because I overheated it.
Updating has been so frustrating lately, I barely have time to get on the computer, much less make any graphics. The past two weeks I haven’t been able to do anything at all, I’ve been working on an AP European History art project, which I finally turned in today. So that’s out of the way. Hopefully I’ll be able to get something done this weekend, because my Dad and brother are gone for the weekend.
I am so looking forward to some movies though this weekend! I’m hoping to go see 17 Again and Earth. Fingers crossed that I get to go!
SOOOO! My spring break ended a week ago, which is sad. I hung out with my friends and my boyfriend a lot, watched TV, worked on homework. It really wasn’t all that exciting. One of my best friends, though, went to New York! Haha, it was pretty cool, she got to see the Plain White Ts, apparently, they were standing right beside her, waiting for the elevator, and she didn’t recognize them at first. So funny. Anyone have any good spring break stories???
Okay, so, voting has started on Tiff’s April Icon Contest, so please go over there and vote for which one you think is the best!
